Concepts: Adolf Loos advocated the concept of minimalism in the craft of everyday objects, ultimately rejecting the idea of decoration and ornaments in objects. This largely was due to the waste of effort spent on creating such decorative items that were not necessary in the functioning of items. It should also be noted that Loos believed in the beauty of minimalism, not just the functionality of such an approach. My model seeks to mimic this concept of minimalism through the large massed slabs of stone that have the sole purpose of providing structural support, rather than producing enclosed, busy spaces for the public. The thin platforms also evokes a 'sleekness' in the visual composition of my model, furthering my minimalist approach.
